The Littlest Mojo's Download of the Day #001 - Thurs 02/10/2008
I’ve had this song going round and round in my head all week, not just because I love it but because last weekend I visited the beautiful city of Rome for the first time.
I did say Rome… at this stage you are probably thinking that the littlest mojo has lost it’s marbles (the few that it has). I’d understand why! I’m writing about a song with Paris in the title and I’m banging on about Rome!
Well it will all become clear when I tell you that I was staying in the very pleasant Hotel Paris in the centre of Rome. All very confusing…Anyhow, now we have that cleared up let’s talk about the track!
“Overlooking Paris” tells a tale of love in the most romantic city in the world “…a city made for two” (That’s Paris… not Rome!) The Aftermath's lead man Johnny Cronin serenades us with fond memories of a Parisian lover, possibly now lost, but impossible to forget.
Sounding, if you can imagine, like a cross between Nick Cave, Elvis and Jack L drowning his sorrows in a little too much vin rouge! Cronin engages us with a memorable vocal performance full of emotion and desire, yearning to rekindle times gone by when his muse held his “heart like a challis”
Sultry guitar and un petit peu d’accordion provide the perfect musical backdrop that befits the French capital .
So go listen to “Overlooking Paris” enjoy, download and discover more from The Aftermath.
While I wander… is there a Hotel Rome in Paris?.....
